I have a 85 citation with a 190 merc i/o. I can only shift into reverse, have to shut it down to get it into neutral, no forward at all (did not try to put it into forward after taking it out of the water). How can I remove the drive if it won't go into forward? Or will I be able to put it in forward now that it is out of the water?<br />Thanks!

Re: removing drive

Try to remove the shift cable from the linkage at the engine and pull it manually to get it into forward. That is the cable that more than likely needs to be replaced.

Re: removing drive

Did that, good bit of resitance going in and out. Cable is still attached going into the drive, i can shift from reverse to neutral, but even when pushing the cable in when disconnected it won't go into reverse. i tried pushing it in at the drive but couldn't get it into forward. Cable began bending, wasn't stiff enough to push in??
