rough cold starts

Quick question - my inline 6 250 chev w/4 barrel carb starts rough when cold - but tons of HP and starts/runs great when warmed up. (mercruiser i/o)

Plugs are nice tan color - ignition looks good. I've been running high octane - think I will scale back to 94 or 91.

Any advice on this?

Choke adjustment perhaps... I have mine safety wired open and electrically disconnected to have one less possibility of something going T.U. while on the water. Just a thought :)
