Greetings,
I recently bought a boat, yesterday, and have some questions. I now have a 1966 Starcraft closed bow, fiberglass, 15' vessel in my possession. It has no motor but appears to be in good shape. I was told the cracks in the "poly coat" (plastic shell) was merely cosmetic. The cracks are on the transom. The rest of the hull looks good. I plan on using a trolling motor for the resivior we frequent until I can get a motor for it. Any suggestions for trolling motors, size or thrust, would be helpfull. Thank you to all that respond.

Welcome to iBoats!

Pictures are always a help for us to assist. The link in my signature will help you to post em. Cracks in the transom are NOT good. They can allow water to penetrate into the inner layers ofthe wood and begin to rot the wood. You should really investigate them further before putting the boat in the water. Trolling motor size should be at least a 56lb thrust in my opinion. Post up some pics so we can see what you're workingwith.

Thanks for the info. I will get some pictures asap. I found yesterday that cracks appear to be in a aftermarket sprayon covering. So the inner wood of the transom should still be well protected.
