i dont know what kind of problem i have . the engine will start and run fine i can get to where i need to go when i 1st put it into the water . so when i get ready to go to another spot after i have turned the engine off the engine will start and run fine but when i put it into gear to take off the engine will lose power and start running rough , the kicker is that i can push the trim button up or down and it will make the engine run fine but you let the trim button go it will bog down again . ican play with the trim button for about a mile and it will start working without having to play with it. i can stop again and turn the engine off and i have to start all over. any help on what to look for or at i would appreciate. i have looked for shorted out wires at the controlls but couldnt find any.

Re: 1997 175 oceanrunner wiring problem maybe

hummm im just a amateur on fixing boats motors, im hear to learn. but in anouther post, someone was talking about problems w/rought idling, that cleared up when they trimmed up.
every one was talking about the carbs, maybe u have a carb that is dirty, and the float or needle and seat or sticking, triming up freed the float ....... maybe its time for a carb job..... but dont take my word for it, im just a amateur

havent checked the voltage but i will what will that tell me .as for the carbs i dont know they seem to be clean it runs to good the motor can be trimmed all the way down and then you can hit the trim button down and it will make it run better it seems to be more on the electrical prob but open to any ideas
