I have a Mariner 5, 2-stroke, air cooled motor without an id tag. The local Mercury dealer said it was a Yamaha engine. Based on the diagrams I have found on the net I think it is a 661-????? serial number. I am trying to find out what year this motor is so I can buy a manual. I have followed all the links I could find on this site to identify it with no luck. Even used the search function. Also does anybody know what the point gap setting should be?

Thanks

Paul

Thanks Jake. I had found one of the links on that thread, but not the other. That narrows it down to 1974 to 1979. Now I can get a manual and try to fix this thing.
