Re: Compression

Which model? A a base model 150 may run 90-95 lbs, the 150S models have higher compression heads and should run 10 lbs more. Compression can vary 5 lbs between the two heads.

Re: Compression

Runs but all are around 80-85 I was told that this could be a low compression motor which could be around 90 which would be ok but 80 seemed low to me.

Re: Compression

Your base 150 model would have had small carbs and the low compression-bathtub heads on it from the factory. The 150 "S" models were the XP/GT engines, with large 175 (1 5/16") carbs, stiff motor mounts, vented cowlings, high compression heads, special paint/decals. Some of the S models ran advanced timing (depending on year).

Re: Compression

Your compression readings are on the low side, but close to the 10% allowable variance. Not quite at the condemning limit at this point. I'd decarb the engine and see if the compression comes up slightly. It certainly won't hurt the engine and you may be happy with the results. See your Bombardier dealer and get a can of Engine Tuner-follow the directions on the can.
