1985 Mercury 7.5 horse Long Shaft motor
Electric and manual start
Has the tiller handle
Starter switch on the side of the motor next to the kill switch
This motor is the auxilary power source on my Catalina 25 sailboat.
After sitting out of the water this winter the electic start has decided to quit. Battery voltage is good and terminals are not corroded. Motor starts and runs fine with pull start.
I did not have a volt meter with me this past weekend so I couldn't check the switch or anything else for that matter.
Where do you recoment starting the test process and is this a problem with these motors?
I have owned it for about 4 years and never had a problem. It gets used very little and the gets regular maintenance by me. I would guess the motor has 75-100 hours on it total.
Help is appreciated.
