I have a 79 80 hp merc serial number#5480932. The wires going to the stator and trigger were in bad shape so I bought a new stator and trigger. I installed them along with a internal engine harness since most those wires were shot. I also installed a new ignition switch with push to choke since the old one was toast. After putting everything back together I have no spark what so ever on any cylinder. I disconnected the yellow wires going to the rectifier and still no spark. I have no voltage going to the coil packs when it cranks. One thing I am not 100% sure about is the orange wire coming from the harness goes to the switch box which is the kill wire. Is this wire supposed to be 12v? My ignition switch had terminals that say magneto and magneto ground where do they go?

The orange wire is the ign killer wire. It is connected to the magneto post on the ign switch. Ground goes to magneto ground post. Disconnect the orange wire at the switchboxes and see if spark returns. If not, get on the cdielectronics.com website and look up the troubleshooting procedure for your motor.

One more thing. The orange wire should never get voltage applied to it from the ign key. That will destroy the switchboxes.
