OK, so we took the boat out on Friday and it ran great, but none of the lights worked, there are no gauges.
Yesterday morning I looked at teh wiring and found that the lights/horn were supplied by a wire ran from the battery to a fuse block, but that they had attached the ground to the + side of the block as well!
I ran a new ground from the battery - terminal and all lights/horn and bilge pump started working, BUT, no I have a totally dead key at the ignition! I can get the engine to turn over by jumping the started selonoid, but have no power at all at the ignition switch, checkign at the + terminal on the switch. I can not see where the two circuits are connected in any way either. Cant figure out why changing the ground for the lights would cause a dead key at the ignition.

any ideas??? I am stymied on this!

I can't help you on that one. You are just going to use a volt meter or test light and start checking the circuts.

Check the fuse under the cowling. 20 amp I believe. Power to the switch comes from it.
