when this occurs you can take the prop and twist it by hand or your foot just to free it up and then try to put in gear..i am told that occurs commonly especially when the boat has been sitting a while. Once it is freed up it should shift if it does not then i would suggest having it looked at
IF YOU HAVE A TILLER HANDLE AND THE HANDLE HAS AN ISSUE WITH IT MAINLY THE THROTTLE. tHE THROTTLE NEEDS TO BE ALL THE WAY OFF IN ORDER TO SWITCH GEARS AS WELL. IF THE CABLE SNAPPED OR IS PINCHED IT MAYBE THE ISSUE.[/I]
