Hy Guys
I have a 98 250 hp Bravo three runs great BUT..... after 10 min of running it starts backfireing or popping through the carb not bad but it does it....lower the speed and it seems to stop....fuel and filters are good and fresh...200 hrs on boat.....some rust around gaskets at the risers outside. could they be getting hot and expanding letting water get in or somthing like a coil getting hot

Thanks in advance
Nick

Re: Carb Popping back

Carb popping is generally a lean condition. Once it is hot, spray some carb cleaner around the intake and carb base. Any change in rpm, that is the problem. For the coil...is it the right type for your ignition....does it get too hot to touch? If original, for 30 bucks replace it. How old are the plug wires, cap, rotor, etc. Could be a lazy valve at speed. You will have to go thru it and eliminate variables. What have you done as far as maintenenace this year?
