Hi everyone, I just picked up a new boat for me. I was in a 88 tracker 17ft with a 45hp merc and upgraded to a 93 stratos 201 with a johnson 150 it has a stainless 4 blade prop. The pitch is 25, I didnt get a quick hole shot. I only took it out for a short while and didnt even get to check the rpms yet. I will check later today, My question is what rpm range should it be at? I just want to get it set up for a fast hole shot, my wife didnt like the front end comming up like it did, :D.

I still have to get used to it my self, I feel I went from a clown car to a 70's caddy. I know about the fins you can put on to help but wasnt there something else that hooks to the bottom of the boat that helps also? Forgive my boating ignorance Iam just tryin to keep the boss happy.

Your top RPM should be 5500 minimum. Any less and you are lugging it.

I am not a fan of fins. They can cover up other issues.

Your trim should be completely "tucked in" (down) when accelerating from a stop.

Country, I run a '98 Johnny 150HPV6 on a 21 foot SeaSwirl. I use a 19" pitch prop and it is by far the most pitch that it can handle. I would expect you to be very overpitched with that 25" pitch prop.
