025.jpg026.jpg025.jpg026.jpgI recently purchased a 1999 Charger Foxfire with Evinrude 200HP EFI and a MinnKota 70lb Thrust Trolling motor. I have only put it out on the water twice now, but only because of a (minor) issue. After almost 3 hours of being out on the water for the first time (by myself) I realized that I was standing in a puddle. Of course, I paniced and smashed to the nearest dock I could just in the case of a "sinker". Once at the dock I engaged the bilge pump. Water poured out of the bilge for almost 4 minutes, and when I pulled the plug after loading the boat even MORE water for almost an addition 2 minutes! So, let me start with explaining that this boat does not have any holes, gashes, scrapes. The gunwale is perfectly sealed. The transom is perfecftly sealed. SO, yesterday out on the water again. Everything fine, no water on floor. I was happy. Immediately after I loaded the boat to head home, I saw water everywhere. It poured all the way up and under the carpet to the front most storage bin. It's awful and when I pulled the drain plug water POURed for almost 3 minutes. What is wrong here? Can anyone give me some suggestions as what "I" am doing wrong or missing? By the way, I should mention below are pictures of what I am considering as a potential culprit. Could my problem be that both my livewells are filling up and overflowing out and into the bilge area. Which is (overtime) essentially flooding my boat. Notice the pvc valve at the top left of the picture. Shouldn't that be closed, not open? Thanks for your time and help.

Are you sure the transom is sealed? Looks like the type of boat it is if you had a hole anywhere else you would know it. Think of how deep a draft you would have to run to overflow your livewells cause of external pressure. By that time your boat would be done! When you say "loaded the boat", what are we talking about here? What other type of accessories do you have on it?

The transom, honestly, looks sealed around everything and in every hole. By saying, "loaded" I was meaning loading on my trailer. Sorry, I am not 100% with boating lingo quite yet.

But if my livewell pumps where say mistakenly "on" where does the overflow go? Outside the boat, through a check valve?

try not using the livewell for a day and see what happens.

Your livewell pumps on mistakenly would be easliy noticed and unlikely (simple circuit). If they were left on they would spill onto your decks with older boats (but it would be obviouse). Boats always dip lower on the transom when putting on the trailer, but it is possible your intake tubes to your livewell tanks are leaking where they connect to the hull and you only notice when your boat dips and the water collects in the back.
