I have a 1985 Johnson 70 Hp model CJ70TLCOS. It is a VROmodel that has had the VRO removed
Occassionally it will not run at speeds above idle. It will run down the lake at full throttle with no problems and then for no apparent reason it just dies as if the key were turned off. It restarts easy but will only run at idle. When I try to throttle up the engine dies. There is coolant water coming out of the back end, it does seem somewhat hot. I have had the motor to several service people and have had the wiring checked, plugs changed, carbs cleaned and adjusted.
