Audio alarm sounding constantly on a Mercury I/O...

Hi,

I have a 2006 Bayliner 197 deck boat with a Mercury 190 HP I/O engine. Normally, when I start it there is a loud alarm that goes off and when it starts, the alarm stops. The alarm is constantly going off (really loud!!). The manual says it is either low oil pressure, low gear lube or hi temp. The oil pressure if good and oil level is good (pressure on guage), the gear lube was just changed (pumped from bottom hole to make sure there was no air in it) and the temp is fine (the gage is low and it does come up a bit, but just to normal operating temp, so I know the gage is working).

I was wondering if there is a switch that controls this alarm and if so, where it is? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,...

Disconnect each of the 3 sensors to see which 1 has gone Bad...
1 of 'em is going to ground, sounding the alarm...

Thanks, do you know where the sensors are? There is another thread that talks about normally open switches and one will prob be closed (or 0 resistence), but I do not know where the switches are?

Thanks... Mark

Ayuh,... The Temp switch is at the T-stat housing...
The oil level switch is in the oil level bottle...
And,...
The oil pressure switch is in the oil pressure port, probably down low on the portside of the block...

gear lube monitor - should be easy to spot, its a bottle full of gearlube mounted high on the engine (be sure it is full)

temp switch - usually mounted in the t-stat housing or front of the intake manifold

oil switch - usually mounted near the oil filter (low, aft, port side of engine)

the alram system uses a tan/blu wire for the circuit - look for sender/switches with this wire attached
