Hello,
I am looking into buying a used boat and am asking for suggestions on what kind to buy as far a quality and reliability while fitting within my guild lines as far as my option list I have listed below and price range. I have been casually looking for about six months now and have found several boats that I'm interested in but I would like to know what to look for in a used boat. I live on the Sacramento River Delta which would be where I would me doing most of my boating. Thank you for your help in advance!

The following list is what I would like in a boat;

-32'-40' Inboard/outboard Cruiser
-preferably under $70k
-Air-conditioning and heating
-Generator
-Hot and Cold water
-Twin Engine capable of 35+ mph
-Navigation and Auto Pilot
-Fresh water maker

32-40' That is a pretty board range. Here is a 40' I found doing a quick search:

Newer will get shorter, as this is at the top end of your range.
I'd suggest you prioritize the following:
Amount you wish to spend.
Size you want.
Age you are willing to accept.
Accommodations you want, need, can live without.
Brands and styles you prefer.
Then with this criteria assemble a list of prospect and go out and look and touch.
Narrow down to 1 or 2 and get them surveyed.
Pick the one in the best condition, they will ALL need some kind of work.
Enjoy!

I would prefer a 35'-40' no older than 1992. I just don't know what the quality brands are and what to look for on a used boat of that size.

I went to a on the water boat show this spring.. There was this company that REPOed boats.. Can't remember the name now.. Anyhow they had lots of the newer stuff for a good price.. Maybe you should look into those..

Carver makes a really nice boat in those sizes.. Dual engines and all that stuff.. So does Four Winns..

I think I would pay a bit more extra for a bow thruster in a boat that size.. I have a buddy who has one on boat and he loves it..
