I have over analyzed and read way to many how to's and threads. Just looking for some direction.

Does anyone know if the deck in my malibu needs to be fiberglassed to strengthen it structurally? I've read were you can glass the sides and just resin the deck to seal it and not use glass, but his seems to go by a boat to boat basis... but I have no clue what to beleive.

Here is what I'm doing.

removed the rotted deck;

found a bad stringer (which my engine lags are screwed into). I'm going the route of drilling holes, drying it out and then filling with penetrating resin. fixing engine mounting holes with resin mixed with fine sawdust;

Replace the deck and glass to the hull;

Either epoxy or glass the deck and then throw some carpet on.

Sounds easy enough, right.

Any input on if glass needs to be used on the deck, and if so, what type and weight.

THANKS!

You can use resin alone if you use epoxy. Poly is worthless by itself and needs glass or it will crack and chip in short order. You deck should be at minimum tabbed to the hull sides with resin and glass regardless.
