I am hearing a clicking noise as I try to put my alpha 1 into gear. Based on what i have read, I need to adjust my shifting cables. I am looking for some guidance in how to do so. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Are you moving the shifter slowly or using a quick motion?

click here and then start reading at pp 2A-18. shift cable adj.

agree with mkast. a snappy shift from neu. to either fwd or rev. is necessary for the gears to mesh quick instead of sliding (ratcheting sound) into gear.

I will try it quicker, I have been going real slow. No problems first couple times out, but now seems different.

I agree that quicker is better, but still hearing a short session of ratcheting. I haven't had this before. Maybe the sign that I need some adjustment? If so, does anyone have a good clear procedure/diagram for doing so?

Shift cables don't just go out of adjustment...
It's more likely it's dying, needing Replacement...
