I recently bought my family a 1995 Donzi Medallion 210 boat, after running it 3 times without any issues I out the boat in and it fails to turn over. Long story short my starter went, when I went to replace the starter I found a few chipped teeth on my fly wheel. After finding this, I figured I would just have a boat mechanic do the work as I really am not good with this kind of stuff. At this point in time, boat engine was not seized up just was a grinding / winding sound in motor which I believe was the faulty starter and chipped teeth. Anyway he replaces starter as well as fly wheel and then calls me and tells me that the motor is seized, which it previously had not been. I had run the boat 3 day's prior without any problems at all. He did what he could and said he found water in where the spark plugs were, which leads him to believe that I have cracked heads. If this is the case, I will either need to buy a new motor (refurbished or new) or have mine rebuilt. He said there really wasnt any sense of taking motor all apart only to find what he thinks is cracked heads cause it would cost me more money.
I am looking for suggestions. I am hearing it from the wife, cause I just wasted $12,000 and I am now being told I have to put another $5000 into it.
I guess Im looking for suggestions, maybe where to look to by new motor or refurbish or what not. Im really depressed by this and dont know where to start.
I am pretty certain the motor is a mercruiser 5.7L, not 100% but think it may be an alpha one.
I thank you for any input you may have.
