I have recently purchased a pontoon with a 60 HP Johnson on it. The previous owner had taken the model# and serial # tag (decal) off of the boat for some reason. The boat is a 1997 and it appears the motor is also a 1997 as some of the parts are stamped as manufactured in sept of 1996. It is a 3 Cyl with VRO and system check. Is there any way to get the model # off of the motor so I can order the proper parts if I need to??

Re: Engine Identification

there should be a stamped tag somewhere on engine telling you model number.

Re: Engine Identification

Look for a core plug about the size of a quarter, it will have the model number stamped in it.

Re: Engine Identification

Found the core plug, the only number appears to be the serial number which is G4251823
Cannot find the model number anywhere.
