I have an old 6hp evinrude fisherman, serial number 61020-jo4877 and would appreciate help to find the year model. also on freeze plug is the number 8102g. Thanks for any help.

1971 Evinrude 6102G 6hp Outboard. The freeze plug should read 6102g I believe you misread it. OMC always put the model number on a freeze plug in case the tag got damaged or the power head was removed.

Believe this motor may be a '71.

This is from the BRP website;

Model #--------HP----Production date
6102 / 6103----6-------1971

Check it out for your self, its page 55 under the evinrude recreational outboards 1913-79;
