leaking outdrive oil from these holes pics inside

its a slow leak but definitely trickling out.. i dont notice any water in the oil but its definitely coming out of that hole on either side its an alpha one outdrive on with a mercruiser 5.7 v8 motor and help would be awesome.

you have a leak then, water pump base, shift shaft, upper driveshaft shaft seals.

its a 95 im guessing alpha one gen 2?

The side bolts make it a GEN II type

alrite guess ill have too look up a manual and start ripping it apart to find out what to order..

I have never seen that big a hole in the side of any Gen II outdrive, ever.

Yea, they have "big holes" nowadys!lol
Prime cadidate for the shift shaft seal popping up. It's the same since the beginning but the plastic housing was "black" & it got warm, then the seal pops out.
Go get yourself a complete "shift shaft bushing assy"!

cool thanks a lot for pointing me in the right direction. any other gaskets i should be ordering to put back together aftr replacing bushings?

Merc p/n 23-815921A21
Should come as 1 piece. The hsg, seal & o-ring. It may even come with new screws. Anything short of going this route, don't get mad at anybody yourself.
This is the time change your water pump too, ya know!

thanks looking for a kit that includes all i see a few on the site but havent narrowed down which one it is exactly so ill call tomorrow unless want to point me in the right direction as well. thanks again for everything.

Not sure if that's available "aftermarket". The pump kit is! Call a dealer. Nothing I point to will get it to you, "Tomorrow"!
