Hi all.
I removed the bolts and started to drop the lower unit on my '03 DF140. I removed the speedo/water tube, and was able to remove the clutch/gear shaft. I can drop the lower unit nearly all the way out. It seems to bind when the drive shaft splines hit the rubber bushing at the bottom of the mid unit. I've tugged on it mightily, but I can't get the last few inches of drive shaft out of the mid unit.
My question is: how much pressure can I apply to get the splines through the bushing? I was thinking of a hydraulic jack cushioned by wood blocks on either side.
Any advice/guidance appreciated.
Tschuss!
