Volvo replacement engine

I purchased a '00 Four Winns 254 Funship on eBay. It was a bank repo without a motor or an outdrive. The people who stripped it were into the fast and easy because the gimbal housing, transom plate, and connections are still in place. They took all the big money items that could be resold relatively easily and quickly. My question is this, what year Volvo motors can be dropped in this boat with very little hassel? I have a line on a 2006 5.0GL and was wondering if this would drop in and give me little problems hooking up. It has everything with it, alternator, starter, manifolds, carb, etc. Also what year/model outdrives should I be looking for? I have spotted a volvo DPS that looks to be a great deal and wondering if this is the route I should pursue. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The DPS is what you want for that size boat, but the 5.0L is not. For a 25' boat, you will want a minimum of a 5.7. You want a drive with a 1.95 gear ratio for the 5.7.
The engine should be a newer style engine setup for the type transom shield and exhaust system you have.
What you really need is a bobtail type engine with all the accessories already on it, or you will spend big bucks for each individuale accessory, and all the brackets and everything else that goes with it.
