johnson v-4 overheat

my freind has a 1963? (engine #'s are V4AL-16D / S/N 2399583 ) johnson v-4 motor that overheats. one cylinder is down to 65 pounds of compression. will a blown head gasket cause one of these to overheat?

Yes. What's the compression on the other cyls??

Replace both head gaskets. Check the plugs for traces of water and you will no its the head gaskets. I just changed mine and they were both gone. Make sure you get a gasket kits that comes with the 4 black pieces of hose that route water around head. They will be bad too. Got my kit on ebay for $20.
