I just picked up this boat, first and second pic. It is a 1959 fiberflite. the motor is a 1960 Merc 400. I am going to paint the top part of the boat red. would it be sacreligious to pain the motor red, or should I keep it the original white, with chrome and black? Also, does anyone have a picture of a Fiber Flite Interior?

The red motor you have pictured is a 1956 Mark 55 - back when they had a whole line of "MerChromatic" colors. 1959 was the last year of more than one main color offering. 1960 was the first year of all white (with black accents) all across the line. 1962 saw the first black Mercs (the 1000), and by 1963 they were all black. Although I'm a bit fussy about folks painting their Mark-series motors Sears Best Black (a common practice), I am less so about the white era motors getting a little customization...
