rpm's low

I have a 1981 Sea Ray 24.5' with a Merc 260. Last time out, I trolled for quite a while and when I went to full throttle my rpm's would not get up to the normal 4200-4400 range. They stayed down around 3600 rpm's. Any suggestions where to look?

Was it making good time on the way out to the fishing grounds ????<br />Is this a Dock boat, or Trailer boat ??????

I guess you'd start with the basics......<br />Tune-up..??<br />Fuel Filters..???<br />It Could be the high-speed circuit in the Carb......
