I suspect my oil level+temp module is bad. I've read many threads, and false alarms seem to be common. The module sits on the starboard side (right side looking back to front of engine) of my 4 cyl 2X2 oil injected Mercury. It is black, and about 1" x 2". It intermittently beeps even though the oil level is fine, the smoke is blue, and the engine pee stream is strong. When I inquired with the dealer, and according to the owner's manual, the module warn of low oil tank level (beep, beep, beep) and overheating (constant beep). I inquired with the dealer about the cost of a new module and he said at least $150. Is there someplace else to buy such a module than a Mercury dealer? It seems like a very simple thing to replace and the wiring is obvious. I would spend as much having the dealer diagnosing the problem as replacing the module. Any ideas?
