Can you increase a Merc 20" shaft to a 25"?

I have been searching for an emission compliant motor, either a 4 stroke or one with the 3 star Calif epa (optimax, etec)...I am finding some w/ a 20" shaft but no 25". Can this be done or should I keep searching. The motors I am looking at are Mercs Optimax and 4 strokes, around 115-150 HP

Seen this done on Force 50 hp before so can't see why not. But would be cheeper to find a 25 inch shaft.

They make extention kits. Basically, it's a spacer for the lower unit to the mid tower, and one for the drive shaft, shift shaft, and water tube.
