My 78 Johnson 9.9 sticks in gear occassionally and wont start easy. Once I get her started, she runs like a champ.
It's a pull start, with the gear shifter on the left side of motor. If she's stuck in gear, I can pull the starter cable a 1/4 turn and it will free up. Although, througout the cranking process (pulling cable) it will get stuck in neutral or forward or reverse; it switches. That's why I don't think it will start, becuase it's in gear instead of neutral. Do you know what may be causing this?
