4.3 cobra to 302 cobra swap

Hi guys, please help. I want to swap out my bad 4.3 cobra to a 5.0 ford cobra. Will it work? Mine is 91 4.3 cobra with 21:19 ratio. My serial is T0735694 the drive I want to buy is T0717936. the model number of mine is 986698 and the replacement is ?? it is missing a number 98603, 5.0 L. thansk for all the help in advance. Do I need the same exact ratio?

Are you swapping the entire 4.3 engine and outdrive, and then putting in the 302 and it's attached outdrive? Or just swapping motors?

The new 302 will not bolt up to the outdrive that is attached to your 4.3 without using the flywheel housing (I think that is the part, double check me) from the 302. If you are taking the entire sterndrive combo out and dropping in a new one, I think your big issue will be motor mounts.

And you should use whatever ratio is correct for your new 302 motor.

I have no idea on if those particular part numbers would work, sorry. Perhaps you could call a dealer and have them look up the compatibility.

I am just swapping the drive itself. Upper and lower unit with the new 5.0L cobra. So out with the 4.3 cobra drive and in with the 5.0 cobra Thanks for the reply!

Don't guess so.. Will be a bit slower.. How much? I couldn't tell ya.. Might be able to solve any troubles with a prop change... Good luck with that one...

1.68:1 going to 1.59:1
