Im brand new to the world of boating number one and this thing is a monster. However I noticed after aquiring the boat and running it 4 times, when I first start it, it takes about 30-45 seconds for water to start coming out of the top cooling line under the cap, and when it does come out its not a really strong jet of water. Now that could be just fine, but while covering it tonight I took the cap off and felt the heads and the lower end and they were still really warm after about an hour of sitting. The motor was only run for about 20 minutes total on the water the rest was trolling, but should it still hold in heat like that or is that a sign that the water pump is starting to go out? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hard to say. If its anything like my 1986 140 v4, it won't be putting out a strong thrusty stream..but it does come out ok. As far as temp on the heads is concerned, i'd be inclined to think thermostats before pump. I will also say that if you don't know when the pump was replaced or the thermostats done, it is probably time to put a few buck into those items for piece of mind. And you can do both jobs by yourself...Just my 2 cents..

My '87 Evinrude 110 doesn't pee like a racehorse either. I also second replacing the t-stats and the waterpump. It's money well spent, if just for piece of mind.
