removing the cylinder head

I took all of the bolts out. The head is still held in place by the gasket and sealer. I cannot pull it off by hand and I want to make sure I do this right. The last thing I want to do is damage the powerhead.

Can someone provide me with the proper technique?

Smack it with a rubber mallet. That should do it....

I've encountered that scenario many times. Lay a piece of wood (2x2, 2x4) against the head and tap it fairly solidly with a hammer.
