Just purchased a 1988 tri-toon 26 ft with a 150 hp mercury that was overheated last yr. It got so hot it melted plug wires and coils and some electrical parts just want some ideas if you think it's worth pursuing fixing or looking for another motor

Buying and selling are not allowed in the forum. You can message people about this but I suggest you give part numbers and such to find someone who might know wheather or not they can help you. All due respects to Iboats

Before you spend a dime on it, run a compression check and remove heads to inspect cylinders/pistons for damage. Also check cylinder sleeves as they will pull away from block casting if to hot. Also pull divider plate and check for aluminum bridge melting and the poppet for being melted. You will need to replace every gasket on this engine and exhaust housing. For one to get this hot without owner knowing it the hot horn is not installed or sensor wire bad. For parts you can PM me...
