I have this Alternator. Not sure where it came from (I know it?s marine) but I need to use it for now. It has the normal single wire terminal but then it has this plug with a black and a red wire out of it. What is this for?

Re: Alt wiring help.

Hey Don
Thanks for the reply.
Do I need to hook the black wire to a 12volt source (like from the key) and I take it the red wire is for a gage or something? Or do I need to use them at all?
Sorry for the stupid questions. Never had one with this plug before.

Re: Alt wiring help.

Those are for the regulator inside the alternator, will it work without hooking it up? I have no idea, never used one either. Start it up and try it.
