Hi I'm trying to replace the impeller in my outboard my grandpa left to me and I'm havin a hard time removing the gearcase to do so, I'm unfamiliar with this electric shift model and the gear case won't drop out is there a linkage I'm not seeing? All I can see is the wiring for the electric shift going into the lower unit

No linkage. It is probably just corrosion holding it up. Also when you disconnect the 2 wires going down, tie a piece of strong cord to them and pull it thru when removing the l/u. The when you re-assemble you can use that cord to pull the wires back in. Sure makes it a lot easier.

Whoa, Stop! Do you have the cable disconnected and released from the side cover? Disconnect the wires at the rear of the motor and remove the diamond shaped cover on the side of the midsection, then remove the second cover that you will find inside. Then you are ready to tie a string to them and lower the gearcase away.

Also, you didn't say but will the lower move down even little bit? I'm wondering if you have the big bolt out of the rear.
