I have this 8 hp that i bought 2 weeks a go and im very dissapointed with performance
its a 12 ft aluminum V hull boat ,by my self it will plane after a bit when i put fuel tank up front only! with 2 ppl forget it...it only has about 1/2 rpm and plowing through the water prop thats on it right now is 9 1/2 x 8 5/8.
my question is is different prop will help me plane with 2 ppl?
what u guys suggest?

thank you

Howdy,

Welcome to iBoats....

I think 8hp is a little anemic for 12ft boat unless you never plan more than one person or put any other gear in the boat.

There are engine "suggesters" out there......

You can put a lower pitch prop on it but you're probably not going to get it to plane easily with 2 people, full fuel and a cooler full of "stuff".

I would want at least a 15 or more hp engine.

Rick

No doubt a 7 will help it push a load better.1 5/8 pitch change is quite a lot with a little motor.
A big bare bones 14 footer would likely plane easier with its bigger footprint.
