Does a jacking plate cause any ill effects and where can i find a cheap uhh inexpensive one. will i need to change cables and all or will the minimal setback and rise in height usually not an issue. thanks and tight lines!!!

Re: jacking transom

Jackplates can be set up to lift the motor 5" or so, depending on the design of the transom. Usually the steering, wiring and cables will work with a jackplate, w/o issue. You really need to get a jackplate and put it against the transom at the right height and see if it works.
