This is a picture provided a LONG time ago from another iboats member.......

What would you clean this with? I would probably use Trinitrotoluene.

Why would you bother cleaning it - doesn't look like the boat gets used anyways ;)

I guess nobody recognized trinitrotoluene. :)

Maybe if you spelled it TriNitroToluene.

What? It's not supposed to look like that

I kind of like it. Maybe it would keep swimmers from using the drive as a ladder

I dunno, I'm pretty sure it's illegal to disturb a reef whether it be natural or man made.:D

Maybe the best action would be one of Norman Willis's lines (while talking about operating on Shemps leg vein) in the three stooges short "Out west".

It looks like that new green design they keep promoting. It fits right into the environment!

Re: When should you clean??

The best thing for removing barnacles is a checkbook.

I could see that kind of build-up in less than a year around here. The fact that he left the motor down is consistent with his level of care.

Around here, it's not unusual to see an old or low-end boat, once it has a major engine problem, just sit there b/c the owner doesn't have the money or the heart in it to fix it up, but can't give it away--and certainly can't sell it. The old wooden hulls, the 20 year old 25-30' cruisers, and "bayliner" I/O bowriders, are everywhere like that.

Maybe we should post that in the prop or engine sections so newbies understand when we ask about hull, prop and drive condition. "I just don't understand, it planed out easily last season" . . .

Trinitrotoluene, might work. but likely would damage the paint, possibly the primer.
You know the problems that can cause.

Looks like the dreaded Zebra Mussle to me!

Put it in a tank of rabid Rounds Gobies and it should be clean as a whistle in a week, with no elbow grease!!!

Bob, you never cease to amaze me!!!:D:D:D

I think a couple sheets of Bounty and a little vinegar should do it... Don't bother with the cheapo paper towels, though; they'll fall just apart too quickly. Probably take 1/2 a roll, maybe more if you use the cheap stuff.;)
