Hello, newbie here and i have searched through a bunch of threads but cant seem to find what im looking for. I have a 1985 Merc 50hp 4 cyl brown band and after 5-10 minutes of cruising at 1/2 throttle or more it looses power but stays running, idles fine, but sucks the primer ball flat. I have to remove quick connect from tank to get it to re inflate, It does this with the original merc metal tank and a new plastic tank, also the hose and primer ball are also brand new. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You might have a bad quick connect.

Sucking the bulb flat indicates a restriction in the fuel flow before the bulb. If this occurs with both tanks then the common part is the hose/tank couple, the hose to the bulb, and the inlet check valve in the bulb.

Return the hose assy, one of these new parts is defective.

Or it wasn't completely coupled to the tank.
