I used my 91 sea ray all summer last year put it away for the winter and when I went to use it today it wouldn't shift into forward or reverse. I looked over the out drive inside and out and its working properly shifts ok and everything. I looked at the shaft behind the motor and it appears not to be turning when I start the motor. Could it have gotten stuck somehow and pulled out of the splines when I lowered the out drive?

Howdy,

Welcome to iBoats!

If your "shaft" is not turning behind the engine, your coupler has failed.

Your drive and engine will have to be removed (in that order) to replace it.

sorry about that.
