My Evinrude runs for like 30 sec. What do i Do???

so i bought a 15hp around 1980's evinrude. i came home and started to try it out but then it turns out that it runs for like 30 seconds and then just shuts down. The engine peeps water well. Does anybody have any idea what i can do to fix this problem?

99% sure you need to clean carb :)
to check for it, does it run a bit longer with choke closed?
if you squirt a bit of fuel oil mix down carb does that help?
suggest you remove carb clean carb very well, then try again.
that said.... if others disagree..... listen to them 1st.

Could be just running on the gas you manually pumped in the carb via the hose pump and that the fuel pump is not working., Try pumping the hose bulb to see if it will keep running. If yes, look at your fuel pump. Look at the bright side. At least it runs!
