Johnson serial no.

I just bought a power head from a guy at the swap meet and he said it was a 71 60 hp. I have tried to run the introduce numbers with no luck.( i don't understand how to read them) does anyone know how to tell the year and model? thanks Jeff

That's the serial number, we need the model number. Look for a small plate on the port (left) transom bracket.

All I have is the power head. and those are the only numbers i could find on it. Thanks Jeff

I read online that you could translate the introduce(serial #) but I personally could not figure it out. thanks jeff

Did that number come from a welch plug located on top the engine?

I knew Evinrudes didnt put the model # on the welch plug on all their motors, I did think Johnsons did have it.Hope someone can help you! I sure would like to find model #s from serial #s also.

Thanks for the reply's. It is a 72 65hp. did allot of parts searches with the part numbers in microfiche.
