Starting Problem

Having starter problems with 1988 165 mercruiser engine. Just clicks when you turn the key
This is what I have done :
New re manufactured starter
New interstate battery 1000 cranking amps
New starter solenoid
New battery cables
Plugs are out and the engine turns freely with pry bar on flywheel
New Gimbel bearing
New bellows done at end of season last year
All electrical connections removed and cleaned
When I turn the key the starter just clicks (HELP)
50 Amp fuse is solid and will not push in(?) Is this correct?

PS: When starting a new thread, under the block that says title, you should put in a title for your thread, in your case, something like "Starting problem", not your screen name.

Engine misses and pops when I put #1 spark plug wire on

Just got engine running mercruiser 165 4 cylinder. It was missing and sputtering around the carb area. When I took off #1 spark plug wire it stopped sputtering and the miss was almost gone. Plugs are new. Could it be the spark plug wires?

Check the firing order. Sounds like you might have a couple wires crossed. What happened to your starting problem?

The hook up on the after market starter and rebuilt starter were reversed. Took your advice and used test light to resolve problem. Thank you. I hooked up the wires like they were lined up. Do you have a diagram showing distributor to plugs wiring. The one you sent me yesterday was great!!
