Evinrude/Johnson spark plugs

I recently bought my first boat, a 1996 Neptune W/A with a 200 Evinrude Ocean Pro. I got replacement spark plugs for it but accidentally told the guy who helped me I had a Johnson 200 (brain fart). He even gapped them to 30 for me per Johnson specs. The numbers on the new plugs are slightly different but they look exactly the same. I don't want to make another trip to the store so could anyone tell me wheather it will make a difference if I put the plugs for a Johnson motor into the Evinrude. Thanks in advance for the info.

It would have been nice if you mentioned what the plug number was that you received. They might not even be the correct make or part number. Both motors use the same plug for your hp and year.

Now you will have to look it up in the official factory spark plug chart to determine what plug your motor should have. Here is the link:
