Hey guys, i am painting my whole boat in "interlux perfection" jet black and im gonna prime it in "Interprotect 2000". I wanted to freshen up the outboard with black gloss to match the boat. Will I be able to just scuff the old black paint on the motor and apply the "Perfection" paint OR should I coat the outboard in the "Interprotect 2000" primer before I paint it with "Perfection." If you don't recommend using "Perfection," what kind of gloss black automotive spray bomb can I use for a reasonable finish? Thanks

Re: interlux perfection on outboard?

The only concern I would have necessarily is compatibility. Perfection has very strong solvents that could damage the underlying coating. I think you would be better off using a good spray paint. (automotive or rattle can) I think it would safer.
I used Moeller outboard paint out of the can. Its matched to the manufacturers paint color and goes on easy.
