how to change impeller on 75 mod 85 hp evinrude

I've loosened the 6 bolts at the bottom of the lower leg, a gap about an inch appeared yet somehing else seems to be stopping it from coming completely apart. Could someonetell me what it is and how to get at it and undo it so I van change the impeller and hit the water.

The shift rod may still be connected. You need to disconnect it at the belcrank under the bottom carb in the lower cowling. It should drop right out.

thank you for that info, I'll give it ago when I get home from work today. Any tools needed to perform the task you mentioned??
