speedometer stopped working, need help to correct problem, can not locate where speed tube connects

Welcome to iBoats!

Your have an Alpha GEN II type outdrive.

The speedo pitot is in the drive and the speedo hose is connected to transom mount on the inside as shown in the following PDF.

right click on it and select "SAVE AS" to your desired folder. Open it using Adobe Acrobat or other PDF viewer.

Page 4 will show the location of the pitot hose connection.

You may have a problem with the drive pitot being plugged with dirt or debris.

The Mercury Service manual has a simple procedure for clearing it using a drill bit.

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,....

It's in the leading edge of the lower unit of the outdrive....

Here is that procedure, step 7. Tough procedure to follow. :facepalm:

NOTE ( a) in the picture below, is the speedometer pickup hole. They get plugged up very easily.

Yeah...it was tough on my Bravo...... It also didn't work! I ended up installing a plastic pitot! I must have something REALLY STUCK in there!
