Hi, I have a little 3hp evinrude that I have had to constantly replace the pull cord. It breaks the knot off at the base of the starter after about 10 pulls. The end of the nylon is just cut. Is the a special way to rig the cord so it won't cut the knot off? I've tried 3 different types of nylon cord. Nothing last very long......Robert

May have to get the pull rope that is designed for that little booger. Try Sea-Way Marine

Post Your question on AOMCI Ask a member forum. There's an old Evinrude Guru named Garry That has explained how to fix that problem.

1. Make sure yuo have the right rope.

2. Make sure the rope goes behind the pin near where it is being cut

3. Make sure the rope is long enough. It should be as long as possible.

4. You are pulling it all the way to the end. Never do that!

5. If it won't retract a full length rope all the way, fix the spring. Too weak?? Bent/backlashed??
