sears ted williams outboard what horse power

i was left a sears ted williams outboard motor and a jon boat.
motor is not running.
has no model number or what horse power it is.
i dont know much about boat motors so need some help to identify this motor for parts and book. hope someone can assist.
looks like a smaller motor but could be wrong. by pictures on ebay of manuals looks like some of the 5 and 5.5 but just not sure.
has points,condenser,armature.
off,start and run lever moves armature closer and farther away.
engine all white. has tin skirt. manual pull choke carb. choke pull through plastic plate
engine flywheel has fins so i figure air cooled.
i feel like maybe its a tecumseh by look of carb. i could be wrong.
gas tank built in top.
motor has handle for steering but no twist throttle.
no idea of year or model number
like working on old engines and would like get it running.
needs a prop also

Welcome to Iboats,
I guess if the are no numbers the only real way is to pull the head and measure the bore and I can tell you engine model and hp.
I think anything under 4.5hp used a pickup tube for water cooling...all of that depends on year.
Can you post a picture?

i was trying load them as slide but could not so added them as attachment.
im hoping someone can identify and come up with a model # and size so i can get parts and a prop.
i have a few more pics i can add but 5 was their limit.

I know its a sears simpson model made in Canada, but I'm unsure of who made that powerhead...need a side shot of the block and cylinder head, I don't believe I every saw one with that shape of exhaust before.

ill get some pics saturday during day and post. maybe ill have some luck finding a book and parts for this with your help once done.
i looked on whole motor and only thing found on carb was LMB
only thing on block was a #7884 stamped in block.
new info just found while cleaning carb. on bottom of bowl it reads
walbro usa not sure if its the 1 that came with it but it fits hope you can answer that 1.

It is a 4hp McCulloch.Does use A walbro carb years 65-69.Uses Champion J18Y or modern equivlent. Points set at .020. Air cooled power head,Water cooled leg with a rotor above the gearcase water misting out the 10 vent holes on the leg.

steelespike, any ideas on model numbers, if parts can be found or a propeller/prop for this motor. ?
its on a small 10 foot jon. it would be great for the small creeks and ponds here.
how did you know this motor.?
so those little holes spray water .

While it is clearly a McCulloch the 217 is typically an Eska number.
